About me

Hi! My name is Julia, and I am currently working as a chase producer for BNN Bloomberg, a financial journalism outlet in Toronto. In this role, I develop story ideas, book guests and write research packs for on-air anchors. My research packs include scripts, key background information on the company or issue being discussed, and a list of concisely worded and well-researched questions. My goal in this job is to find guests who can explain market movements and help anchors break down complex stories for our audience.

Before starting my work in TV, I worked as a freelance writer while travelling and completing my master's degree. In the three years between graduating from my undergraduate degree and starting my first full-time job, I published over 150 articles. While gig work can be an unreliable source of income, I built my career on being an efficient and reliable writer who can write clean articles. I have covered a wide range of topics from Canada's train conundrum, to suburban geese in Winnipeg, to the Canadian federal election. I have bylines in The Globe and Mail, The National Observer, Canadian Geographic and Canadian Mortgage Trends, among others.

I hold a Master of Journalism degree from Carleton University (graduated May 2025) and a Bachelor of Science degree from Queen's University (graduated May 2022).
